Network readiness
An IP intercom can use your existing building network or a small, dedicated network just for the intercom. Apartments and strata: we work with the strata manager or building IT to check there are spare switch ports in the comms cupboard, confirm cabling is Cat5e or better, and make sure door stations and indoor units have the power they need. Commercial sites: we review switch power budgets and keep intercom traffic in its own lane so it does not slow point of sale, Wi-Fi or other systems. If sharing the network is not a good fit, we supply a compact PoE switch and keep the intercom separate. Either way, calls stay quick and video stays smooth, without IT drama.
Mobile app calling
Most IP platforms support app-based answering for residents, building managers and reception staff. We set up push notifications, call groups and time schedules. You can answer from your phone, open doors and view snapshots. For strata, we can limit door release to authorised users. For commercial, we can route to front of house in business hours, then to security after hours.
Directory and routing
Build a directory that fits your site. Apartments can list tenants and unit numbers. Offices can list suites, teams or roles. Route calls by time of day and day of week. Support multiple entry panels, concierge or reception, with escalation to security or on-call staff after hours. On multi-building sites, calls can route across the campus while events are still logged per building.
Integration options
Link the intercom to access control for managed door release and lift control, for example sending visitors only to permitted floors. Tie in CCTV so calls and door releases are tagged on video for easy review. If you already use office phones, we can make selected handsets ring as well as the mobile app. If keeping the systems separate is cleaner, we supply a small adapter and keep the intercom on its own network.
